Job Description

Chamlin & Associates Inc. is seeking to hire a Construction Inspector/Engineer in our Morris, Peru or Ottawa, IL office. The Construction Engineer will support the firm’s construction group with on a variety of projects ranging from roadways and bridges to underground utility installation and treatment plant construction. The position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients and assist with field adjustments as necessary. Position will be responsible for performing inspection assignments that require initiative, creativity, knowledge, and application of engineering principles. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site observation for the construction phase of projects and tests as
  • Coordinate construction activities with clients, contractors and public
  • Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work. Serve as liaison with
  • Maintain job site records of daily reports, job meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests.
  • Observe, measure and document construction
  • Maintain a daily log of construction
  • Monitor progress schedule and shop drawing
  • Review pay requests and verify completed
  • General civil engineering and client service.
  • Assist with design/drafting of future projects during off-season.
  • Develop and enhance client relationships and business
  • Work with department managers to continually improve department standards and peer review process.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Construction Engineering and/or 5+ in related inspection duties preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven progressive experience in construction
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites
  • Work in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize projects
